Water is a precious resource that pets, plants, and people all need to survive. Without water, we wouldn't be able to raise cattle, grow rice, manufacture paint—not to mention wash our clothes, cook our food, and enjoy a summer swim at the local pool. While many of these uses are out of our hands, we can all do our part to help stretch every drop we use!
What to Know About Water Efficiency
Being water efficient is important as our community grows and our water needs increase. The average person in Cityville uses about 3,000 gallons of water a month, and the average household of four uses 12,000 gallons a month! Check your recent water bills to see how much you use in your own household. Interested in reducing your number? Try adopting a few of these water-saving tips.
Inside your home
Turn off the faucet while brushing your teeth.
Wait for full loads before running the washing machine or dishwasher.
Use low-flow shower heads, faucets, and toilets.
Fix leaks as soon as possible.
Outside your home
Don’t water on off days, during the afternoon, or after sufficient rain.
Catch rain for outdoor watering with a rain barrel or buckets.
Fix leaks as soon as possible.
Stay Informed and Involved
Share your own ideas for how you save water!
Spread the word to your friends and neighbors by sharing the project with them or printing the Water Fact Sheet.
Follow the project and we'll share updates and invite you back to provide input in the future.

We are making an important change to your water supply.
We are improving the quality of your drinking water by changing the disinfection method of water sourced from the Edwards Aquifer from chlorine to chloramine. This change will overcome water quality challenges due to source water and long pipelines in the region, as well as produce a better-tasting water.
From Wednesday 17 March 2022, the new, improved chloraminated water began flowing through the drinking water network to your taps and we are keen to hear your feedback.
Tell us more about your drinking water experience by filling out this 5-minute survey.
