Guestbook
This reconstruction is a waste of time and money. Won't fix the real problem of overdevelopment and too little infrastructure.
Easier and quicker to get to work—I can't be late, so it's always stressful to make it on time.
Easier getting to work.
No difference to me.
Reconstruction is a painful necessity. If the road is actually fixed, it will make my commute much smoother.
Wouldn't make much of a difference to me.
I can walk to Penn Station faster than I can get there in a cab thanks to the atrocious traffic along 9th, but since I'm always lugging a suitcase I have to pay for cab. Protect the Bus and Bike lanes and charge congestion pricing for everyone else.
I agree with Tyler - bike lanes in NYC need to have protective barrier to prevent cabs from using them like passing lanes. It's just not safe enough for most people to feel comfortable.
This project seems nice for drivers and pedestrians, but it completely ignores bicyclists. It'd be great to have a protected bike lane, or even just striping on the street indicating a bike lane. I enjoy biking around NYC, but it doesn't feel safe anymore.
I work from home so I don't travel a ton on 9th, but man does the pervasive construction noise affect my concentration, headaches and Zoom calls. Can't wait for whatever it is to be over.
My only gripe is the non-stop construction that is already in place along 9th. The city has been working on a stretch of street from 54th to 58th for more than two years, and it's loud, noisy, smelly and disrupts traffic. Ending this non-stop cut and cover construction would make a big difference in my life.
I ride my bike a lot and a protected bike lane would make me feel so much safer.
I live at 9th and 51st and I'm always wary of fast traffic in this intersection. It would make me feel more safe when crossing the street if the city could find a way to slow traffic here. Other than that, it's a pretty good street with decent sidewalks on both sides.
I feel unsafe biking down this road. Whenever I have to go down 9th, I Uber instead. Better cyclist infrastructure would make me feel safer.
I travel across town via 9th for my morning commute - any improvements to traffic flow would make a big difference in my day.
